Tips and Techniques
While Working with MbD
Some things to consider as your students are working on Math by Design:
- You should decide on the role you want to play. Your role may depend upon the setting (a one-computer classroom or a lab, with students working individually or in groups.) Perhaps you will be leading the discussion or maybe you will simply observe their progress and encourage them to experiment with the inventory items.
- Regardless of the setting, you may want to encourage some peer to peer interaction as students operate within the environment.
- Remind students to use the tools available to them, including the inventory items, the calculator, the hints, and the 3-D view.
- To facilitate a discussion after their experience with Math by Design, you may want to ask students to make a note of questions they have as they work.
